Lesson 5 - Reading

1. Could you recognize how tables are similar to other applications? How so? Did you recognize how tables are not similar? How so?

  • I have created tables in MS Word. It seems Word and FP are similar in the ways that tables can be created.

  • Both apps have 'Table' on the menu bar and 'draw table' is the same for both applications.

  • In my brief comparison, I believe FP has greater flexibility and functionality when making modifications and changes. I could not find a way in Word to change the properties for the table and cells.

2. What did you like about using a table to layout a page? What did you dislike? Do you think you'll organize your pages this way? Why or Why not?

  • If you want to have data or information in columns or in a specific alignment then using tables is away to achieve this.

  • At this time, there is noting that I don't like about creating tables in FP.

  • I will always need to use tables. I am currently using tables created in FP to display this information.

3. How did you like drawing a table? Do you see where problems could develop with this method? List a few problems you might encounter.

  • I found it difficult in placing the table in a specific location when I already had data (images, text) on the page.

  • The same HTML code for font and color was listed in each table row.

  • I did find myself using the HTML tab to make changes.
